Here's how it works. You fill the hopper and get the fire going. (A piece of newspaper and a match will usually be all you need.) Then watch it work. The hopper auger travels from side to side bringing fuel out of the hopper. The final auger moves the fuel onto the grate where it burns. When the thermostat in your home or building reaches temperature, the fan and augers stop. The fire dies down and there are just a few coals on the grate. About a half hour passes. Suddenly the augers and the blowers start up again and run for two minutes. Then all is quiet again ... until the temperature in your building drops or another half hour goes by. Then the blowers and augers run again. The "fire-breathing" Dragon is quality-constructed of 11-gauge steel (except the trough which is 16-gauge and the grate which is cast iron). Over-and underfire air passes through the In-Furnace Grate to promote a hotter flame, increasing efficiency and reducing creosote. The control panel includes a rheostat which allows you to adjust for different fuels by regulating the amount of fuel flowing onto the grates. The auger motors are protected by fuses. While running, the maximum electrical usage is just under 8 amps. For added safety, a sprinkler device is provided. Hooking up the Messersmith Dragon is relatively easy. Slide the grate into the proper-sized hole in your furnace or boiler and bolt in place. Connect the wires to the aquastat or thermostat and the low water cutoff or high limit. Then plug in the 3-prong polarized cord. Your Messersmith Dragon is ready for fuel. Enjoy inexpensive, automatic heat with a Messersmith Dragon. *For variations in fuels, timer can be reset to run Dragon at closer intervals or for longer times.
